earthquake epicenter WS
For the equation, you are welcome to use: P-S delay times 7.5 km/s... this should give you a distance from the epicenter to the seismograph. (a simplification of what we did in class)
We will be working with compasses in class tomorrow.
HMWK for Monday: Read p. 370-378, p. 372# 1,2,5 and p. 378#1-8 The equation for volume of a sphere is 4/3 (pi) times radius cubed. You will have to use some logic to solve the problem involving relative sizes of Earth's layers.
Also, Friday we will have a quiz on plate tectonics and Earth's interior concepts we've learned so far, and have a fun competition for the most tectonic plates memorized.
Notes on Friday afterward: How we know what we know about the inside of the Earth.
