Get Tuesday's homework here today!
Today we reviewed GPE - KE conversion and learned about car crashes/safety and related much to our study in this course so far.
1st period - HMWK p.143#1-6 and p.880# 46-52. (all other classes should take a look; it will be good practice for tomorrow's homework)
New optional assignment:
Go to safercar.gov
Look up safety ratings for your desired car (or one in your family that you might drive)
Record safety ratings (all available) for your car as follows:
Frontal crash driver/passenger chest deceleration ("g"s)
Side crash pelvic decleration ("g"s)
Bonus: Find another car or truck that's similar to yours (year, type, price range) and compare its numbers to your car. If there's a big difference in ratings, try to explain why you think this could be.
Tomorrow we'll look at some slow-motion video of car crashes and discuss what ideal performance looks like, and use our skills to analyze what's going on in some collisions. There will be homework; it will be posted here soon.
